I am sure you’ve heard of the beautiful starfish story and I am sure there are variations. A terrible storm washes up thousands of starfish. A young girl walks up and down the beach throwing one starfish at a time back into the ocean when a man approaches asking in bewilderment, “Why are you doing this? You can’t possibly make a difference, there are too many! As she processes this she seems deflated, then suddenly she picks one up and hurls it back into the ocean as far as she can exclaiming, “Well I made a difference to that one!”
What intrigues me about this story is how this girl got to this place of loving kindness in the first place as change starts within, it starts with you and you are ONE person.
On International Women’s Day, it is imperative we celebrate ourselves and others, both past and present, who choose to speak their truth to create and lead authentic lives worth living.
When you find your purpose in life that fills your cup, you feel good. When you feel joy and peace, you share that with others to change the world, one act of kindness at a time.
The problem is a lot of us don’t think it’s possible to live our dreams or follow our deepest desires. We are stuck in patterns of behaviour, routines, commitments, and social, emotional, economic and political belief systems that don’t align with us anymore (see how to navigate Change here).
I never in a million lifetimes would I imagine that I would end up where I am today. I used to think the world was a very scary place and I truly wanted nothing more than to leave it. With a combination of breakdowns (see post breakdown to breakthrough!), becoming a mother and exploring Reiki, Meditation, and Philosophy (Yoga and others!) I found myself. I realized what wasn’t working, what I needed and what I wanted out of life. I am so grateful to be standing here in my truth and I have never felt more peace, love and joy!

Truly, the harder the fall, the greater the climb. So never stay in your sorrow for longer than necessary, blaming yourself for your failures because if you never knew pain, you wouldn’t truly know peace and joy. It could never be appreciated fully. Be grateful for the moments when you fell from grace for they taught you what you truly want and need. You are allowed to fall. You are allowed to make mistakes. You are still a good person.
As my son said the other day, “I think he’s a good person inside, he just made a mistake.” We all do the best we can with what we know at the time.

When you choose to stop feeling negatively a lot of the time, letting go of guilt, shame, anger, hopelessness towards yourself or others, you shine brighter. Forgive yourself, forgive others (see how to process Trauma here). Surrender and let go so you can choose to create exactly what you want out of life. You will come closer to why you are here and what you came to do in this one whirlwind journey on Earth. You are human and you are destined to learn and grow! Keep growing into your light so you can share it with the world and make it even brighter.
So how can you change the world?
By being you.
By celebrating you.
By celebrating ALL parts of you.
By coming back to your roots.
By coming back to the magic of your spirit.
By coming back to the inner voice within beckoning you to listen to your calling.
By doing what it takes to feel good.
Self-care is Selfish because if you care enough about yourself, you align with the energy of your inner Self which is connected to Source - God - All Things - The One.
And what does that do?
It changes the world.
Shine bright woman, the world needs your light,
